Sarvin Brand Story
My name is Sarvin Clark, and I am the founder of Sarvin, the luxury womenswear brand based in Manchester.
The idea for the Sarvin brand started back in 2015 in my apartment living room as I struggled to find the perfect unique yet high-end dress to accompany my trip to the York horse races. My grandfather in law used to have racehorses of his own; thus, me and my husband have always thoroughly enjoyed attending the races ourselves.
Once we arrived at the races, I would always sit in the premier enclosure people watching, mesmerised by how chic and elegant all the women looked in their stunning dresses, beautiful fascinators and elaborate hats, making a sea of vibrant colours. I was inspired.
I remember one day when we were coming back from the races; I said to my husband in the car how amazing it would be if I could mix classic British design with a contemporary Persian twist. He turned around, and he agreed that it was an exciting idea; colour plays a huge role in British culture. Hence colours have always played a symbolic role in Persian religion, poetry, and daily life.
I noticed a gap in the market for high-quality British made products where the style plays a crucial role in the design. I realised some women, including myself, like to purchase investment pieces to wear them on repeat and style them for different occasions. To be able to implement this idea in my business, I had to learn more about women's figure and iconic fashion moments in a different era and follow the slow fashion movement by choosing quality-based production rather than time-based.
Thus, in 2016, I started working with a bespoke sewist and a pattern-maker in Manchester, creating garments perfectly fitted for me so that I could wear them to the races and special occasions.
As I would upload pictures of myself wearing the dresses on social media, I would receive numerous messages and comments asking where my piece were from. This was when I realised there was a genuine demand for my designs and a real opportunity to turn my interest into a brand. I have always wanted to make women feel good, empowered and confident. I want to ensure women feel unstoppable in my designs.
Later that year, I launched my first ever collection, which was heavily influenced by my Persian heritage with an iconic twist of British silhouette shape designs.
It was not long after this that the Sarvin brand was noticed by British Vogue and was published as a Persian/British designer in their magazine. I was completely over the moon!
In 2017 we had our first fashion show in Manchester, which proved a success resulting in further demand for our pieces. Consequently, we changed the business model from bespoke to ready-made designs, matching supply with demand.
To entirely focus on the Sarvin brand and work towards my dream, in 2018, I took the risk of leaving my part-time job to divide my full-time attention to growing the label both nationally and internally. Towards the end of 2018, we signed up with our first partnered platform, Wolf and Badger, alongside numerous other unique British marketplaces.
In 2019, the brand grew even further, and we launched our first-ever eco-friendly collection. The collection involved a collaboration with renowned Persian artist Ali Fani Salek who provided us with exclusive hand-painted illustrations featuring on the collection.
2020 despite many nationwide fallbacks, proved an exciting one for our internal growth. We added our first-ever team member to Sarvin world, alongside opening our first studio/showroom based in Manchester. We then started accepting bespoke orders alongside our beautiful Made in Britain handmade stock dresses.
2021 despite all its obstacles and the Covid crisis, did not stop us from dreaming big. We are now investing a lot of time in our upcoming collection and content strategy on social media, particularly Instagram and Facebook. To show more insight into the brand and be transparent about our journey. We believe creating a two-way relationship is crucial for a brand nowadays.
We cannot wait to take you with us on this journey and share with you much more exciting news!
